Americans United - Virginia Chapter

Why we care

The Constitution mandates it. Most Americans believe in it. But today it is under threat as never before.

Church-state separation stands as one of the foundations of our nation. Because of it, Americans enjoy unparalleled religious liberty and nurture one of the most vital religious communities in the world. Separation guarantees the freedom to worship or not to worship as you choose.

Today powerful religious leaders and misguided politicians have joined forces to undercut the First Amendment.

Virginia Chapter of Americans United

The Virginia Chapter covers the Commonwealth of Virginia, with a special focus on Tidewater, Virginia. Our members include practicing attorneys, educators, and historians familiar with Commonwealth law and our rich Virginia heritage.

Issues that members are following during the current Virginia General Assembly session include tuition vouchers, charitable choice, school prayer, and posting of religious content in public settings. Other activities include monitoring local government activities and court actions.
